Communication Intern
IU Indianapolis - Office of Student Employment
January 2024 - Present
During my junior and senior years, I had the wonderful opportunity to be the Communication Intern for the IU Indianapolis Office of Student Employment (OSE). This internship was very tech-heavy. I learned many new software, including CMS, Marketing Cloud, Web Content Management Systems (WCMS), Spotify for Podcasters, and more! In this position, I am responsible for creating monthly newsletters (OSE Column), updating and creating content for three websites, hosting a podcast (Learning and Earning Podcast), creating email campaigns, and helping with other promotional efforts.

One of my primary responsibilities was planning and creating The OSE Column, the Office of Student Employment's monthly newsletter. This publication is distributed to over 3,000 students across the IU Indianapolis campus, providing essential announcements, a monthly featured topic, and details about campus events. Through this experience, I learned the importance of web writing structure: placing the most critical information at the top of the newsletter and gradually moving to less urgent content as the reader progresses. After over a year of crafting newsletters, I have developed valuable skills in tailoring messages to specific audiences.

Learning and Earning Podcast

I have had the amazing opportunity to host the Office of Student Employment's podcast, "The Learning and Earning Podcast." I wrote episodes, recorded interviews, edited episodes, and uploaded them to our podcast hosting software. Check out the Learning and Earning Podcast. Below are a few episodes I hosted!

OSE Website Management
Another one of my main tasks was to update and maintain OSE three websites. Each of the wbsites were tailored to a different audience. The websites were for, students, supervisors and for supervisors looking to employ IU Indianapolis students. One of my biggest challenges was that I started my internship when the school was transition from IUPUI to IU and Purdue Indianapolis. I become in charge of rebranding all website content from IUPUI to IU Indianapolis.
This process included:
-
changing all web pages to say IU indianapolis.
-
update documents and surveys that had IUPUI branding on it.
-
retaking photos on the website that had the word "IUPUI" in them.
-
Work with univeristy to ensure all updates are aligned with the IU Indianapolis brand.

Currently, the Office of student employment has three websites with the goal to only have two. I have been helping assist with the planning of the two new websites.
